(CNN)Former President Bill Clinton will remain at University of California Irvine Medical Center in Orange, California, for at least one more night, and is expected to be discharged Sunday, his spokesperson Angel Ureña said in a statement Saturday on Twitter. Clinton "continued to make excellent progress," Ureña added. "He will remain overnight at UC Irvine Medical Center to continue to receive IV antibiotics before an expected discharge tomorrow." Clinton has spent several days in the intensive care unit for a urinary tract infection, which spread to his bloodstream, CNN previously reported. "He is in great spirits and has been spending time with family, catching up with friends, and watching college football," Ureña noted. #president #states #orange #networking #billclinton #california #center #angel #sunday #clinton #medical #angelic #university #cnn #worldlynewsonline

Analysis: A truly awful week for Joe Biden

Image
(CNN)This is a week President Joe Biden would like to forget. But Republicans won't let that happen anytime soon. Consider the body blows he took this week: 1. The US ended its military presence in Afghanistan on Tuesday. While Biden spoke several times this week in an attempt to spin the withdrawal, the suicide bomber who took 13 American military lives last week and those of at least 170 others, coupled with the overall chaos of the pullout, reflected very poorly on him and his administration. 2. The economy -- plagued by the coronavirus Delta variant -- stalled badly last month. Just 235,000 jobs were created in August, the lowest number in more than six months. (Economists had expected more than 700,000 jobs to be created in August.) 3. Sen. Joe Manchin, a critical moderate Democrat from West Virginia, said Thursday that he believed his party needed to take a "strategic pause" in its efforts to pass a $3.5 trillion stimulus package that Biden has cast as nec...

President and first lady plan to get their Covid-19 vaccine booster shots once they're eligible, Biden say

Image
s (CNN)President Joe Biden and first lady Jill Biden plan to get Covid-19 vaccine booster shots once they are cleared to take them, the President said in an interview aired Thursday. The Biden administration announced on Wednesday that Americans will be able to get Covid-19 vaccine booster shots starting on September 20, subject to authorization from the US Food and Drug Administration and sign off from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Individuals would become eligible for their booster shot eight months after their second shot of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines. Those who received the Johnson & Johnson Covid-19 vaccine may need boosters in the future, but more data is needed, health officials said. The Bidens received their second Pfizer Covid vaccine shots in January, so they would become eligible for the booster shot in September, the President told ABC News. "We're gonna get the booster shots," Biden said. "And-- it's somethin...

Watch Biden on CNN

Image
(CNN)President Joe Biden will participate in a CNN town hall on Wednesday in Cincinnati, Ohio, just over six months after taking office. The town hall comes as the White House grapples with a new surge in Covid-19 cases, which has led to increasing rates of hospitalizations and deaths. The Delta variant, which causes more severe illness than Covid-19, is spreading in areas of the nation with low vaccination rates. More than 161 million Americans are now fully vaccinated against Covid-19, but many are still refusing to get the shot. The White House has ramped up efforts to conduct more targeted outreach, particularly to young people, and to combat misinformation about the vaccines. The town hall comes as the administration faces a number of congressional hurdles, including on immigration, police reform and infrastructure. #joebiden #ohio #surge #sixmonth #cincinnati #house #cnn #president #month #biden #whitehouse #unitedstates #cases #worldlynewsonline

Romney 'totally confident' Biden will sign infrastructure after attempted walk back

Image
Washington (CNN)Sen. Mitt Romney, a key Republican negotiator in infrastructure talks, said Sunday that he's "totally confident" President Joe Biden will sign a bipartisan bill. Biden on Saturday walked back comments he had made Thursday, in which he said he wouldn't approve the bipartisan measure unless it came paired with a reconciliation proposal for "human infrastructure." The President said in a statement that his comments "created the impression that I was issuing a veto threat on the very plan I had just agreed to, which was certainly not my intent." #romney #cnn #comment #joebiden #washington #comments #sunday #walk #president #biden #infrastructure #talk #sign

Global websites down | Kitco New

Image
s (Kitco News) - Multiple websites are showing to be offline leaving conspiracy theorists running wild. At one stage the likes of Amazon, Twitter, CNN, and Reddit were all not working as there could be some possible issues with Amazon's AWS system. There are other unverified Twitter reports that Fastly Edge systems are also down and this could be the reason for the outage. Traders are also reporting that Bloomberg's and Reuters' terminals have been affected. These websites are being presented by a series of error messages, including "connection failure" and "Error 503 Service Unavailable". U.K. newspaper The Express say " Our best guess right now is a CDN. A Content Distribution Network, or CDN, is a network of proxy servers and their data centers distributed across a wide area.".The U.K. Government website is also now showing to be offline but it is still unclear what is causing the outages.AP is now reporting that the Fastly cloud system c...

Cheney: Trump inciting January 6 riot 'the most dangerous thing' a president has done

Image
(CNN)Wyoming Republican Rep. Liz Cheney accused former President Donald Trump of having committed the worst violation of a president's oath of office by inciting the January 6 Capitol insurrection -- and taking a jab at House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy over his subsequent visit to Trump at Mar-a-Lago. "I was stunned. I could not imagine any justification for doing that," Cheney said of McCarthy's visit to Trump during an episode of David Axelrod's "The Axe Files" podcast, which was taped Saturday afternoon as part of a University of Chicago alumni weekend event. "And I asked him why he had done it, and he said, well, he had just been in the neighborhood, essentially." House Republicans ousted Cheney from her leadership position last month over her public rejection of Trump's lie that he won the election -- an ouster that McCarthy supported. Cheney, the daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney, has repeatedly clashed with McCarth...
