s BC health officials announced 150 new test-positive COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, bringing the total number of recorded cases in the province to 149,259. New and total active cases, broken down by health region, are as follows: Fraser Health: 32 new cases, 196 total active cases Vancouver Coastal Health: 17 new cases, 122 total active cases Interior Health: 95 new cases, 412 total active cases Northern Health: Three new cases, 14 total active cases Island Health: Three new cases, 35 total active cases Outside of Canada: No new cases, four total active cases There have been no new COVID-19-related deaths, which leaves a total of 1,768 deaths in British Columbia. To date, 80.7% of all eligible people 12 and over have received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. "We need to wait": WHO urges caution against mix-and-match vaccines | New

s The World Health Organization (WHO) is now advising against mixing two different vaccines. Chief Scientist Dr. Soumya Swaminathan said decisions to allow potential mixing of vaccines are being driven by a lack of data. “It’s a little bit of a dangerous trend where people are in a data-free, evidence-free zone.” She went on to say that there’s a possibility that it will turn out to be a good approach, but because of the lack of data and science behind it, it’s too soon to say for certain. “There are studies going on; we need to wait for that.” The National Advisory Committee on Immunization, which certain Canadian health jurisdictions rely on for guidance in regards their vaccine strategies, has approved mix-and-match vaccinations in certain conditions. Dr. Swaminathan also reiterated her point on Twitter after the briefing. Another topic that was discussed was COVID-19 vaccine digital certification. No COVID-19-related deaths reported in Quebec in 4 consecutive days | New

s Quebec public health is reporting zero COVID-19-related deaths over the past four days. The Ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux has added 54 new cases over the past 24 hours and zero coronavirus-related deaths. Hospitalizations have decreased by three since Monday and now total 85 across the province. Patients in intensive care have remained stable at 25, since the weekend. Over the past day, 86,640 vaccines were administered across the province for a total of 9,555,986 since December 2020. BC reports fewer than 90 new COVID-19 cases since Friday | New

s British Columbia health officials announced on Monday there have been 87 new test-positive COVID-19 cases since Friday, bringing the total number of recorded cases in the province to 147,790. Broken down by health region, this equates to five new cases in the Vancouver Coastal Health region, 33 new cases in the Fraser Health region, one new case in the Island Health region, 45 new cases in the Interior Health region, one new case in the Northern Health region, and two new cases of people who reside outside of Canada. There were also three more deaths over the weekend, bringing the death toll to 1,759. There are 652 active cases of COVID-19 in the province, and 85 individuals are hospitalized with COVID-19, 22 of whom are in intensive care. The remaining people with COVID-19 are recovering at home in self-isolation.
